Last Week’s Workout Recap (11/9-11/15)

November is moving right along. Last weeks workouts went well and I reached my goal of running at least 25 miles this week and ran 27 miles. Woohoo! I’m on my way to 100 miles for the month. Here’s what I did:

Monday – I tried another BOSU workout from the bonus dvd that came with the BOSU and did FUSE. It’s a good one! I’m really liking how the BOSU works different muscles as well as my balance. Tuesday – I ran 4 foggy morning miles.  Wednesday – Ran a nice 5 miler before work.
Thursday – I tried the Long And Lean BOSU workout today. I was surprised to see Chalene Johnson as the instructor and it had yoga and Pilates inspired moves. I think it was the beginning of PiYo. I liked it! I also ran 3 miles on the treadmill.

Friday – Ran 4 morning miles.

Saturday – Ran 9 treadmill miles. Sunday – I usually don’t run on Sundays before work, but felt like running so I ran 2 miles on the treadmill.

So it was a good week of workouts. I’m really enjoying the BOSU workouts and would like to find more. Do you know of any good BOSU workouts? How’d your week go? Are you training for anything? Any races coming up?

Last Week’s Workout Recap (11/2-11/8)

Another week of workouts done. For November, I’ve decided to go for 100 miles, so I figure 25 miles per week. Let’s see if I can keep it up. Here’s what I did last week:

Monday – I tried the BOSU for the first time and did the Total Body Workout that came with it. I’m loving the BOSU! It’s an awesome element that adds balance.

Tuesday – Ran 4 miles before work.Wednesday – I ran 6 miles on the treadmill.Thursday – I decided to try another BOSU workout and did one from the bonus dvd. It was called BURN. I had a great workout but I was a bit disappointed because they used an additional BOSU and the ballast ball, which I don’t have in the last circuits. Afterwards, I ran 2 miles on the treadmill.

Friday – Ran 5 miles on the treadmill.Saturday – I ran 8 miles on the treadmill. We got a new treadmill a while ago and I’m happy that it’s finally working. It feels a lot better than the older one and much quieter. It has iFit which I haven’t tried yet. iFit lets you customize your workout, where you can set your own speed, distance, time, incline, decline, and even change up the scenery by adding Street View images to your workout. There’s lots of workout programs and other features which I need to read up on. I got 30 days free since it took them so long to get the new treadmill working. Sunday – Rest Day

So this was a pretty good week. I got 25 miles in. I ran more treadmill miles than I wanted to though since the kiddos had no school on my days off from work. But it was nice using the new treadmill on Saturday.

How’d your week go? Do you like running on the treadmill? Have you tried iFit?

Last Week’s Workout Recap and Weekly Wrap (10/26-11/1)

It was a decent week of workouts last week. It’s good and bad that I don’t have any races scheduled for the rest of the year. It’s nice being able to do what I please but I have that feeling I should be doing more. October ended with 83 miles for the month. That was my lowest monthly total for the year. I guess it’s not bad since I was recovering from my first marathon. Next month, I’ll try for 100 miles. It was the first time I was less than 100 miles since March. Well, here’s what I did last week:

Monday – Ran 3 morning miles.Tuesday – I decided to do Insanity Max:30 Tabata Power.  Wednesday – Ran 4 rainy morning miles.Thursday – Rest Day but did some walking.   Friday – Ran 5 miles on the treadmill.   Saturday – Ran 6 miles on the treadmill.Sunday – Rest Day.

The highlight of the week was Halloween. The kiddos had so much fun trick or treating. I took them to an outside mall early around 1pm.Then we continued later in the evening. This year was the first year we went further than our actual small development. We went to a lot more houses down our road and there were lots more decorated houses which was neat to see. Check out that big cat in the background. Its head actually moved.
Also, on Saturday I was excited to see what came in the mail. I got the BOSU I won from the #BOSUSstrong Fitfamily Challenge from BOSU and Fit Approach!! It’s so cool that I won and I’ll be doing my first workout on Monday. 🙂

Also, congrats to Nicki J. who won the bottle of Mighty Nut Powdered Peanut Butter.

How’d your week go? How was your Halloween? Have you used a BOSU?

Workouts Recap (10/12-10/18)

This was recovery week 2, post marathon. I’ve been taking it easy and am starting to get lazy lol. Sleep is good. I’m not following a schedule since I haven’t signed up for any races for the rest of the year. I plan to pick it up this week. But here’s what I did last week:

Monday – I did PiYo Core. It’s been a while since I’ve done that one and I had a great core workout.

I also had fun jumping with the kiddos for #JumpJoyMonday for the #SweatPink #FitFamily #BOSUChallenge.Tuesday – Rest Day, slept in. I didn’t feel like getting up early before work.

Wednesday – Ran 3 morning miles before work. Also, did airplanes with my little guy as well as got in our best bird dog for the #BOSUChallenge. Thursday – Rest Day. It was #FitFamily plank day for the #BOSUChallenge. This is how we planked it out.

Friday – Ran 5 miles while the kiddo was in preschool. It was also #ForearmFriday!

Saturday – Ran 5 easy treadmill miles.  Sunday – Rest Day.

It was an okay week. It was fun doing the #FitFamily #BOSUchallenge. The kiddos did great! 🙂 How’d your week go? Hope you have a fantastic week!

Post Marathon – Workouts Recap (10/5-10/11)

This was recovery week after the marathon. If you missed my recap of my first marathon, you can read it HERE. Boy was I stiff on Monday! My legs were definitely feeling it at the joints and I was walking funny. I’m glad it only lasted a day. I probably should have followed some sort of recovery plan but here’s what I did last week:

Monday – Just walked/waddled and took it easy.I did get a #JumpJoyMonday in for the #SweatPink BOSU challenge lol.  Tuesday – I did a few minutes of cycling.
Then did some tricep dips for #TricepTuesday.  Wednesday – I did some planking for the #SweatPink BOSU challenge. I was side planking and my little guy had something else in mind. He’s like do this and I was like, ok lol.
In the evening I did some easy cycling.  Thursday – I decided to do some yoga and did P90X3’s Yoga.
Friday –  First run after the marathon, 3 treadmill miles. Saturday – Rest Day

Sunday – Rest Day

It’s been an easy recovery week. I don’t have any races scheduled for the rest of the year but am thinking of signing up for a holiday run or something. It’s a bit weird not having a schedule to follow, which I was so accustomed to with marathon training. But I just found a marathon recovery plan from Hal Higdon that I might use as a guide:

Post Marathon Training: Intermediate
WEEK MON TUE WED THU FRI SAT SUN
1 Cross 30 min 3 m run 3 x mile (mar pace) 3 m run Rest 30 min tempo 45-75 min run
2 Cross 30-40 min 4 m run 3 x mile (10-K pace) 4 m run Rest 35 min tempo 60-90 min run
3 Cross 30-50 min 5 m run 3 x mile (5-K pace) 5 m run Rest 40 min tempo 90 min run
4 Cross 30-60 min 5 m run 30 min tempo 3 m run Rest Rest Race

How’d your week go? Here’s to a great week ahead!
