Last Week’s Workouts Recap and Weekly Wrap (12/21-12/27)

Christmas week seemed to go by fast. It was a fun and busy week. I ran at least a mile each day for the Runner’s World Run Streak. Sunday marked day 32, so five more days left. 🙂 Here’s what I did last week:

Monday – Ran 3 morning rainy miles. Tuesday – Ran a mile to continue the run streak.Wednesday – Worked out with the hubby, which was nice. It’s been a while since we worked out together. 21 Day Fix Extreme – The Fix Challenge was a tough but good one!  I also ran a mile to continue the run streak.

Thursday – Ran a nice 4 miles.Friday – Ran a Christmas mile for day 30 of the #RWRunStreak.  Saturday – Ran 3 miles.

Sunday – Ran 1o miles. It was nice to have the day off and get a good long run in, since I usually work Sundays.

I ran 23 miles last week. So I think it was a pretty good week. Wednesday, Christmas Eve was when all the fun began. I took the day off since we had family coming later in the day. We went and saw an early showing of Star Wars, The Force Awakens. It was awesome!

On Christmas Day, the kiddos were up early and excited to see what Santa brought them.

They enjoyed playing with their gifts. The play doh from Grandma and Grandpa was great. My youngest made the two minions in the middle, which I thought was pretty good.

We played Star Wars Monopoly. It was beginner’s luck for my 5 year old since he won.

The day after Christmas, my in-laws wanted to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens so we saw it again.

We also braved the mall and went shopping.

Today we went to the Factory Outlet Stores, where the kiddos always enjoy the tree house they have there. My kiddos are so into Star Wars right now.

Last Week’s Workouts Recap and Weekly Wrap (12/14-12/20)

Last week was a busy week with work, running errands to get ready for Christmas and all, and runs/workouts. I managed to get 17 miles of running. I’m still doing the Runner’s World Run Streak and Sunday marked day 26. There’s just twelve more days to go until New Year’s Day! Here’s what last weeks runs/workouts looked like:

Monday – Ran a mile on the treadmilll.Tuesday – I didn’t feel like getting out of bed but ran a morning mile to continue the #RWRunStreak.

Wednesday – I ran my 5k virtual race from Running On the Wall. I hadn’t run a 5k in a while and wanted to see how fast I could go so I ran it fast. I ran my fastest 5k! 🙂

Thursday – I did the Long and Lean BOSU DVD workout which is a yoga and pilates routine. I liked it!I also got my mile in to continue the #RWRunStreak.Friday – I only had time for 3 miles before having to pick up the kiddo from preschool.Saturday – Ran 7 treadmill miles. I also got some burpees, squats and push-ups in for a video promoting the Mommathon race fitness challenge. I did this race and fitness challenge last year and it was fun! If you’re in the PDX area you have to come do this one! 🙂

Sunday – Ran a mile to continue the run streak.

So workout wise, it was ok. Just happy I’m doing something active each day and at least got a mile in for the run streak each day. I found out on Wednesday that I’m a nuun ambassador for 2016. I’m so happy to be a part of the nuun family. Love nuun! I’ve been using it on my long runs as well as races in my simple hydration water bottle.

My youngest also got his purple belt. Look how happy he is. 🙂He surprised me with his push-ups during his private belt test.

Last Week’s Workouts Recap and Weekly Wrap (12/7-12/13)

It was another good week of workouts. I’m still doing the Runner’s World Holiday Run Streak and Sunday marked day 18. Here’s what the week looked like:

Monday – I started off doing Insanity Max 30: Tabata Power. I woke up late and only got 18 minutes of the 30 minute workout because I wanted to get my mile in before work too. 18 minutes was better than nothing.
Tuesday – Ran 3 wet morning miles.  Wednesday – Ran 3 miles again before work.Thursday – Got some strength training in and did Focus T25 Gamma Extreme Circuit. Also, got my mile in for day 15 of the #RWRunStreak.   Friday – Ran a nice 5 miler in the rain.  Saturday – Had a good workout with the BOSU and did the Fuse workout. It’s a good balance and strength one. Also, ran my mile for day 17 of the #RWRunStreak.Sunday – Ran 10 miles. I was happy to run a long run outside since I had the day off of work.

We had some holiday fun this week. The kiddos had fun decorating their gingerbread house. We put up our tree and decorated it. Love how they were so excited to put up the ornaments, especially my youngest. They also went and visited Santa. They both made the nice list. I took my little guy’s pic a little too early. 😛

How’d your week go? Have you finished your holiday shopping? Hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

Last Week’s Workouts Recap and Weekly Wrap (11/30-12/6)

Last Monday ended the month of November, and I finished the month with 102 miles. Woohoo! I reached my 100 mile goal. I’m still doing the Runner’s World Holiday Run Streak. Sunday marked day 11 of the streak. I’d say it was a good week of workouts. I ran 22 miles and did some cross training. Here’s what I did:
Monday – Ran 1 mile and then did some yoga from P90X3.  Tuesday – Ran 3 morning treadmill miles.Wednesday – Ran the virtual #EarnYourTurkey 5 miler from Running on the Wall and had a good fast run. Always earned, never given is a great saying. I really loved how this virtual race came with a medal holder! Such awesome swag!
Thursday – I tried 21 Day Fix Extreme Dirty 30 workout. My little guy joined in for a little bit. This was a tough one and I liked how it used weights. I was sore the next day.I also ran a mile to continue the run streak.
Friday – I ran a nice 5 miler while the kiddos were in school.  Saturday – Got 7 afternoon miles on the treadmill.
Sunday – Ran one mile to continue the streak.
A fun thing my kiddos did this weekend was go to the Holiday Stackers Workshop for Kids at Home Depot. I love how they have this free activity for kids to do. This was my first time going to the Home Depot workshop. Lowes has a similar program. I like how they were able to use paint to decorate the stand for the blocks. The kiddos enjoyed it. I’ve already signed them up for the next event in January, which is a Kung Fu Panda 3 Spinning Box one.

We also went to my kiddo’s elementary school for their holiday bazaar and book sale. I ended up buying some books.
How’d your week go? Any races coming up?

Last Week’s Workout Recap (11/23-11/29)

It’s the end of November. Time is flying. I’m still getting over the cold I had. I just have a little cough left. Thanksgiving marked the beginning of the Runner’s World Run Streak. I’m doing it again this year and am on day 4 so far. Here’s what I did last week:

Monday – 2 morning treadmill miles.Tuesday – I overslept and didn’t have time to run before work. I got first break for work and ran 3 miles on the treadmill.Wednesday – 3 morning treadmill miles.Thursday – 4 Thanksgiving miles to start the #RWRunStreak.  Friday – 5 miles on the Burke Gilman Trail.
Saturday – Ran 3.7 miles in Kirkland.  Sunday – Nice 6 miles on the Burke Gilman Trail.
I ended up with 26.76 miles for the week. I wasn’t able to get any cross training in though. I’m planning on changing that this week. It was nice to be able to run outside four days in a row. Also, I loved running on the Burke Gilman Trail and in Kirkland.

It was nice to go up to my brother’s house for Thanksgiving! Always great to spend time with family and enjoy yummy food!
On Friday, we tried a new place for me, Boiling Point. If you like hot pot, this is great! I thought it was good and I like the idea of being able to choose your own hot pot ingredients. There’s a good variety of soups you can get with different ingredients like a Korean one, seafood one, and Angus beef one. I chose the beef and it was delicious.

On Saturday, we went to downtown Kirkland and walked around. I ran along the waterfront while they walked around further. We also went to the Google Campus. It’s cool they have a walking/running trail, the Kirkland Corridor that goes through it. I ran a little on the trail. There was also a fun zipline the kiddos enjoyed.

We had a nice lunch at Homegrown, a sustainable sandwich shop that features organic ingredients. The chicken pesto sandwich was really good!!

That was just some of the fun weekend. I watched my 7 yr old nephew play in his first tennis tournament. He did awesome and took 2nd place! We also had a great dinner at the Facing East restaurant. It was my first time there and was pretty good. I don’t have Taiwanese food very often and it was good. I liked the pork burger they had as well as the chow mein. I forgot to take pics. Today, was mostly spent driving home and listening to the Seahawks game on the radio. Go Hawks!

How’d your week go? Any races coming up?

Portland Marathon Training Week 3 – Workouts Recap and Weekend Update

I’d say week 3 of Portland Marathon Training went well. I got my scheduled runs in and on July 4th, I completed the Runner’s World Summer Run Streak. Woohoo! 41 days of running at least a mile of day completed! That is my longest run streak ever! The last one I did ended at 37 days. IMG_5367

Here’s what I did last week:

Monday – Ran a mile and then did Insanity Max:30 Cardio Challenge. Had a great sweat session and maxed out at 17:32.Tuesday – Ran 3 miles.
Wednesday – Ran 6 miles.  Thursday – Ran a mile to continue the run streak and then did P90X3 Dynamix. This is a great recovery workout with dynamic exercises/stretches.
Friday – Ran 6 or so miles. My GPS was wacky that day on my Garmin. Not sure what happened there, but it was a first and of course it happens when I go a different route. Strava had me at 6.8 miles.  Saturday – Ran 9 early morning miles outside before hubby went to work and then finished with 3 miles on the treadmill for 12 miles total. Saturday marked the end of the Runner’s World Run Streak and I feel somewhat relieved that it’s over lol. I like rest days.

Sunday – Rest day

Now onto the weekend update, here are the highlights.

On Friday, I took the kiddos to the movies and we watched Inside Out. I thought it was a cute one. It had me laughing at parts and the kiddos enjoyed it.Saturday was July 4th so the kiddos had fun with some fireworks. It would have been fun to go watch a big show, but I had to work on Sunday. My kiddos enjoyed the smoke bombs and sparklers we got them.   How’d your weekend go? See any good movies lately?

Friday Five: Five Things I’m Loving This 4th of July

It’s Friday! I’m linking up once again with Eat Pray Run DCYou Signed Up for What?! and Mar on the Run for their Friday Five Linkup. This week’s theme is the “4th of July” and so here are five things I’m loving this 4th of July:

1. Love seeing fireworks, but we’ll probably just get some sparklers and not watch a big live show. I have to work the next day. Here’s a cute but old pic when we watched fireworks at Rockaway Beach, OR.

2. The Runner’s World run streak ends on the fourth of July. This will be my longest run streak at 41 days. It was a good streak but I’ll be looking forward to my rest days now that I’m marathon training.IMG_5367

3. The 2nd Earthathon Relay has just started and I’m looking forward to contributing my miles. It’s not too late to join. It’s a fun and free virtual relay with ten teams competing the distance of the circumference of the earth. It’s fun, great motivation, and a great way to meet runners all over the world. All you need is a Twitter account. You can learn more at earthathonrelay.com. We could use your miles on team RunderfulRunners. 🙂IMG_27354. It’s been sooo hot lately, I’m loving these Yasso mint chocolate chip frozen greek yogurt bars. So good! I got them at Costco.

5. I’m also loving my new hat which is also a heart rate monitor. It’s called the LifeBeam Smart Hat. I splurged and got it with a coupon code since I don’t like wearing the chest strap heart rate monitors. It works great and pairs with my Garmin!

What are you loving right now? Any plans this July 4th weekend?

Hope you have a great weekend and be sure to check out the other blogs!
