Generation UCAN Review and Giveaway

I first heard about Generation UCAN right before the Chicago Marathon last year. I was lucky to tag along with my sister and other awesome bloggers, HollyMarcia, and Wendy, where we met the amazing Meb Keflezighi and elite Sara Crouch. img_0519I learned a little bit about UCAN, a new generation of nutrition, that Meb and Sarah use to fuel. It was created to help the founders’ son, Jonah who had a life threatening hypoglycemia condition. Jonah had to be tube-fed every 2 hours to maintain normal blood sugar levels and UCAN changed that. It has a revolutionary SuperStarch which is a natural, slow-releasing carbohydrate that keeps blood sugar stable and delivers steady energy to your brain and body. I was intrigued and wanted to try it out for my next marathon. I’m so glad I did!FullSizeRender 44I started using UCAN in November for my long training runs. The samples I got in Chicago worked great so I bought two tubs and it’s been working awesome since. I’m a fan of the Cocoa Delite which sort of reminds me of chocolate milk. The Tropical Orange is the other flavor I’ve tried and has a sweet orange cream like taste.

When I use the UCAN, my energy is good and steady. You don’t get an energy spike like you would using gels. The SuperStarch slowly releases to give continuing energy and helps burn more fat for fuel during and after exercise. It’s amazing and seems to work for me. I especially love how I don’t have to take gels every 45 minutes or so. One serving of UCAN lasts about 1-1.5 hrs. I ran the Cottage Grove Half Marathon by taking two servings of UCAN before the race and it lasted me the whole race. It was so cool that I didn’t have to take any gels during the race!

Last Sunday, I used it for the Vernonia Marathon. I took two servings of UCAN a half an hour before the race. Then I took it around mile 12.5 and 19.5. I made my own UCAN gels by mixing a serving with some water and putting it in smaller sandwich bags. I ended up with a huge PR and my first BQ! My energy was great throughout the run. So awesome not having to worry about taking fuel as much too!

Check out this video. UCAN is great for all athletes.

The kind folks at UCAN are allowing me to give away a Fitness Box and shaker bottle to three lucky readers. Who’s excited to try this out? If you don’t want to wait for the giveaway, you can click this link to get 10% off on UCAN. The discount will be automatically applied at checkout.
