Half Marathon Training Workouts Recap (1/12-1/18)

neon (1)Before I get into the workouts recap, I found out on Friday that my application to become a FitFluential Ambassador was approved….woohoo! I’m pretty excited and happy to be a part of this group. It’s another outlet in which I hope to inspire others to be active and healthy. I’m looking forward to connecting with health and fitness brands.ambassador_button

Now on to my workouts recap. Half Marathon training for the NYC Half Marathon in March is going well. I just finished week 2 of Insanity Max:30 and it’s challenging but I’m able to manage both running and workouts. I like how Saturday and Sunday are rest days for the program. I get my long run on Sunday so it’s working out nicely. Here’s what the Asics app had scheduled: 2015/01/img_2023.png

I switched Wednesday and Thursday around since I’m able to run outside on Thursday’s when the lil guy is in Preschool. I also participated in the #SweatPink #NoExcuses challenge.

Here’s what I did during the week:

Monday – I did day 8 of Insanity Max:30 – Cardio Challenge with the hubby. Maxed out at 8:53 which was a little improvement from last time. I also did Day 1 of the #SweatPink #NoExcuses Challenge, 30 sec plank.

Tuesday – Ran 3 miles and Day 2 of the #SweatPink #NoExcuses Challenge was run or walk for at least a mile. Also, I did day Insanity Max:30 – Tabata Power. I maxed out at 10:10, another improvement. 🙂

2015/01/img_2054.jpg2015/01/img_2062.jpg

Wednesday – Got day 10 of Insanity Max:30 – Sweat Intervals done. I was happy I improved my max out time again which was 9:17.

2015/01/img_2074.jpg

Day 3 of the #SweatPink #NoExcuses Challenge was 10 burpees (any variation). I did burpee lunges from Insanity Max:30 – Sweat Intervals.

Thursday – Ran 5 miles and then did Insanity Max:30 – Tabata Power. I didn’t improve my max out time but was a few seconds off. Maxed out at 10:08. My little guy decided to join for a little bit. 🙂

Day 4 of the #SweatPink #NoExcuses challenge was 20 squats (any variation). I did squats with knee ups from the Tabata Power workout.http://instagram.com/p/x5bhXDKLgV%20

Friday – I did day 12 of Insanity Max:30 -Friday Fight Round 1. I maxed out at 8:22, a 10 second improvement. I decided to wear my free shirt that I just got from completing Insanity the Asylum: Volume 1. I also ran three miles on the treadmill and that was my #FreeFriday pick for Day 5 of the #SweatPink #NoExcuses challenge.2015/01/img_2088.jpg2015/01/img_2087.jpg

Saturday – Rest Day2015/01/img_2093.png

Last Week’s Workouts Recap (1/5-1/11)

neon (3)This week was a tough and busy week, but I got through it. I started Insanity Max:30 on Monday. This program is pretty insane! It’s 30 minutes of intense cardio with strength moves too. There’s some breaks but it feels like I’m constantly moving. I hope to improve on my max out times each week. My max out time is the longest I can go without taking a break that’s not given. We’ll see how it goes with half marathon training. It’s a two month program, so I should finish it at the end of February. In regards to half marathon training, I’m following the Asics app and this was the plan. I like how it gives guideline paces.IMG_1825Here’s what I did:

Monday – Day 1 of Insanity Max:30 – Cardio Challenge. Max out time was 7:49. 2015/01/img_1869.jpg

Tuesday – I ran 3 miles and then did Day 2 of Insanity Max:30 – Tabata Power. Max out time was 9:44.

Wednesday – I did day 3 of Insanity Max:30 – Sweat Intervals with my hubby. Maxed out at 8:23. Then in the afternoon, I ran five miles.
2015/01/img_1905.jpg2015/01/img_1923.jpg

Thursday – I switched run days and ran five miles instead of on Friday since my little guy has Preschool. Then later did Insanity Max:30 – Tabata Power. Maxed out at 9:43. I did not improve on this time and was one second ahead of last time. Those side to side plyo push-ups are tough.

Friday – Day 5 of Insanity Max:30 – Friday Fight Round 1. I maxed out at 8:12.

Last Week’s Workouts Recap (12/22-12/28)

This past week started off great! It was Christmas vacation time and we travelled up to my parent’s place to spend the Holidays. It was nice because I got to workout and run with my sister from New Jersey who also came for the Holidays. I continued with the Runner’s World Run Streak but felt sick the last couple of days. Here’s how my week went:

Monday – Ran a mile with my sis for day 26 of the #RWRunStreak and then we all tried Insanity Max:30 Cardio for the first time. That was fun! I maxed out at 16:27.

IMG_1379/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_13851.jpg

Tuesday – I had a nice three mile run with my sis. It’s nice to have someone run with you. Not just for the awesome company but because they can take your pic while running. 🙂
/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1474.jpg
Wednesday – Had a great Christmas Eve run, and ran five miles!

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1494.jpg

Thursday – I continued the streak and ran a mile on Christmas with my sis.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1589.jpg

Friday – I just ran a mile to continue the streak./home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1633.jpg

Saturday – I woke up with a headache and ran a mile again to continue the streak./home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1652.jpg

Sunday, I felt a bit worse but wanted to try to run five miles. I was breathing heavily after the first mile and decided that was not going to happen so I decided to do three miles. I’m hoping whatever I have is gone soon. I’m coughing and still have a little headache. Something is going around because my husband and son had fevers as well as one of my sister’s kids. My temp was a little elevated but luckily not that hot. Hopefully everyone feels better tomorrow. I’m almost done with the run streak. Day 32 of 36 day done!

How’d your week go? Hope you have a great week ahead and a happy 2015!!

Last Week’s Workouts Recap (12/15-12/21)

This was a good week! I finished Insanity the Asylum, Volume 1. The 29 days of Asylum were tough but I’m proud to say that I finished the program. I only did 29 out of the 30 because I bypassed the Fit Test. I should have done the Fit Test in the beginning to see the improvement over the course of the program, but I jumped right into the workouts from the start. I feel stronger and had so many great sweat sessions. My back feels stronger and I can actually see some muscle on my back. I did not follow the nutrition plan so my results could have been better. I am also continuing with the Runners World Run Streak.

Here’s what my schedule looked like:

Monday – I ran 5.41 miles for day 19 of the #RWRunStreak and then did day 28 of Insanity the Asylum – Relief.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1132.jpg/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1141.jpg

Tuesday – Ran a mile for day 20 of the ‪#‎RWRunStreak‬ and then did the last workout on the Insanity the Asylum schedule. Woohoo!! I finished the program! It was tough and I’m glad to say that I completed it!

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1172.jpg/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1186.jpg

Wednesday – I ran one mile on the treadmill. I also couldn’t wait and decided to try Insanity Max: 30. I did Tabata Power. Oh my! It’s tough, but a great workout. I maxed out at 9:46, which is when I had to take a break. There is a modifier the entire workout so don’t be afraid to try it. As Shaun T says, “Your power comes from within.” Let me know if you’re interested in doing this program with me.

Thursday – I had a nice five mile run./home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1273.jpgFriday – I got my mile in for day 23 of the #RWRunStreak./home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1292.jpg

Saturday – I didn’t feel like doing anything but kept the #RWRunStreak alive. Ran a mile on the treadmill again for day 24./home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1317.jpg

Sunday – I ran two miles. /home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/77e/68168024/files/2014/12/img_1341.jpg

How’d your week go? I’m excited for Christmas. Happy Holidays!!

Last Week’s Workout Recap (12/8-12/14)

It was another pretty good week! I’m still doing the Runner’s World Run Streak and I’m also continuing with Insanity the Asylum. I’m almost finished with it…woohoo :). It’s a tough program but I can feel myself getting stronger. After Asylum, I’ll be starting Insanity Max: 30 and training for a half marathon. We’ll see how that goes.

Monday started off with a three mile run, day 12 of the running streak. Afterwards I did Insanity the Asylum Back to Core with my hubby.

Last Week’s Workout Recap (12/1-12/7)

I think I had a great week of workouts. I was still in Colorado Springs until Tuesday and got in my runs for the Runner’s World Run Streak. I will miss running at such a beautiful place! It was so cool to be close to Garden of the Gods! I then continued with the Insanity the Asylum workouts.

On Monday, I ran 1.05 mi for day 5 of the #RWRunStreak! It was 14 deg F out and lightly snowing. That didn’t stop me. It was nice to do a quick run at Garden of the Gods!

IMG_0568.JPG
I couldn’t pass up another opportunity to run at Garden of the Gods. I ran with my Brother-in-law and a got a 2nd run in. As you can see from the pic, the snow didn’t stick around long.

IMG_0643.JPG

Tuesday was my last day in Colorado Springs. I had another nice run at Garden of the Gods. The hills are tough but the views are amazing!IMG_0674.JPG

Wednesday – Back home and continuing where I left off. I did Day 16 of Insanity the Asylum – Vertical Plyo. Had a great sweat session!
IMG_0697.JPG

I also got my two miles in for the Run Streak.
IMG_0716.JPG

IMG_0784.JPG

Sunday – I ran my mile. It’s day 11 for the Runner’s World Run Streak. I know I’m not running that far but a mile is a mile and I’m still streaking. 🙂day11rwstreakI also did Asylum Game Day and Overtime. Oh my! Both of those tough, especially Overtime which I somewhat did. I was so pooped I was watching most of it. It has some killer moves. But I got my sweat on!gameday

Last Week’s Workouts Recap (11/24-11/30)

I did one Insanity the Asylum workout this week which put me halfway through the program. I put it on hold until we get back from Thanksgiving break. But I think I had a great week for being on vacation. I started the Runner’s World run streak. From Thanksgiving to New Year’s day, I will run at least a mile a day everyday.

streak-page-header

On Monday, I did Day 15 of the Insanity the Asylum, Speed & Agility with the hubby. I had a great workout and was dripping sweat at the end of it!IMG_0254.JPG

Tuesday was a rest day. I was traveling most of the day.

On Wednesday, we went hiking at Red Rock Canyon. It’s such a beautiful place!
IMG_0330.JPG

On Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, I started the Runner’s World Run Streak.  I ran with my Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law at Garden of the Gods. It’s so awesome that they live so close and we can just run there! It was a tough run with hills, but a great workout.

IMG_0355.JPG

Friday we started the day off hiking at Stratton Open Space.IMG_0364.JPGThen I ran 2.87 miles with my Sister-in-law to get day 2 of the streak done. We passed by deer while running. It’s amazing how the deer don’t run off when they see people. Look how close I am. If you look closely in the back, there’s more deer.
IMG_0415.JPG

On Saturday, I ran with my Sister-in-law to Garden of the Gods and did a nice 2.12 mile loop.

IMG_0450.JPG

On Sunday, I had another great run with my Sister-in-law.
IMG_0459.JPG

Afterwards we went hiking at Red Rock Canyon again. I think I will be doing another post with more pictures from Red Rock Canyon and Stratton. They are great places to hike.

It was nice to get workouts in while on vacation, especially because of all the food I ate. 🙂 How’d your week go?

Last Week’s Workouts Recap (11/17-11/23)

I had a pretty good week of workouts. This was my second week of Insanity the Asylum and it’s going well. The workouts are tough but I always push through and do what I can. On Friday, I got the awesome news that I was finally matched with an IRUN4 buddy. He’s the cutest 11 month old boy, and his name is Caysen. He was diagnosed with Down Syndrome a week after he was born. I’m happy and honored to run for him. 🙂 On to the workouts:

Monday was Day 8 of Insanity the Asylum – Back to Core workout. This one gives a great back workout. I love it when my four year old jumps in at times and works out with me! He does pretty good too!

IMG_0016.JPG

Tuesday was Game Day. We swapped this one instead of Vertical Plyo since it fit our schedule better since it’s so long. This one’s a great workout. It focuses on different sports and you’ll definitely get your sweat on!

IMG_0045.JPG

Here’s a video preview of Game Day:

Wednesday was Relief – a great stretch routine.

IMG_0085.JPG

Thursday was Vertical Plyo. This one’s really tough! I managed to do a few plyo pushups this time. 😛IMG_0109.JPG

Friday was the Back to Core workout again.
IMG_0122.JPG

Saturday was the Strength workout. I was courageous to up my weight usage and used 10 lbs instead of 8 lbs and I did pretty well. I also felt motivated to run a mile for my IRUN4 buddy, Caysen. It was my first run for him. 🙂

IMG_0191.JPG

Sunday – I decided to run 5 miles and then did Day 15 of Insanity the Asylum – Relief. Felt good to do a stretch routine!IMG_0226.JPGHow’d your week go? Hope you have a good one!!

Last Week’s Workouts Recap – Started Insanity the Asylum (11/10-11/16)

I’ve started Shaun T’s Insanity the Asylum Workout Program and OMG it’s tough! I’m happy it’s only 30 days haha. All the workouts so far are hard but a great challenge. If I keep it up, I should be in tip top shape. I still might go for a run here and there, especially since I will be getting my IRun4 buddy really soon. On Saturday’s official waiting list, I was number 57! So close!

On to the workouts…on Monday, Day 1 was Speed and Agility. This was the first time using an agility ladder and I thought it was fun.
IMG_9880.JPG

Here’s a video preview of Speed & Agility:

I also refreshed with resource Natural Spring Water. It’s very refreshing water during and after the workout. Thanks Influenster for letting me test the product! It tasted great.

Here’s video preview of Strength:

Wednesday, day 3 was Back to Core. This one really works your back. I was really sore from the previous workouts.

IMG_9920.JPG

Here’s a video preview of Back to Core:

Thursday, day 4 was Vertical Plyo. OMG this is the hardest one so far! I was still sore so I didn’t even attempt the Plyo push-ups lol. I did what I could.
IMG_9955.JPG

Here’s a video preview of Vertical Plyo:

Friday, day 5 was a much needed Rest Day!
IMG_9962.JPG

Saturday, day 6 was Speed & Agility again. Here I’m doing a much needed stretch during cool down.IMG_9980.JPG

Sunday, day 7 was Strength. I’m happy to say I’m no longer sore, but I might be tomorrow lol.IMG_0003.JPG
