Last Week’s Workouts Recap (11/24-11/30)

I did one Insanity the Asylum workout this week which put me halfway through the program. I put it on hold until we get back from Thanksgiving break. But I think I had a great week for being on vacation. I started the Runner’s World run streak. From Thanksgiving to New Year’s day, I will run at least a mile a day everyday.

On Monday, I did Day 15 of the Insanity the Asylum, Speed & Agility with the hubby. I had a great workout and was dripping sweat at the end of it!IMG_0254.JPG

Tuesday was a rest day. I was traveling most of the day.

On Wednesday, we went hiking at Red Rock Canyon. It’s such a beautiful place!
IMG_0330.JPG

On Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, I started the Runner’s World Run Streak.  I ran with my Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law at Garden of the Gods. It’s so awesome that they live so close and we can just run there! It was a tough run with hills, but a great workout.

IMG_0355.JPG

Friday we started the day off hiking at Stratton Open Space.IMG_0364.JPGThen I ran 2.87 miles with my Sister-in-law to get day 2 of the streak done. We passed by deer while running. It’s amazing how the deer don’t run off when they see people. Look how close I am. If you look closely in the back, there’s more deer.

On Saturday, I ran with my Sister-in-law to Garden of the Gods and did a nice 2.12 mile loop.

IMG_0450.JPG

On Sunday, I had another great run with my Sister-in-law.
IMG_0459.JPG

Afterwards we went hiking at Red Rock Canyon again. I think I will be doing another post with more pictures from Red Rock Canyon and Stratton. They are great places to hike.

It was nice to get workouts in while on vacation, especially because of all the food I ate. 🙂 How’d your week go?

Last Week’s Workouts Recap (11/17-11/23)

I had a pretty good week of workouts. This was my second week of Insanity the Asylum and it’s going well. The workouts are tough but I always push through and do what I can. On Friday, I got the awesome news that I was finally matched with an IRUN4 buddy. He’s the cutest 11 month old boy, and his name is Caysen. He was diagnosed with Down Syndrome a week after he was born. I’m happy and honored to run for him. 🙂 On to the workouts:

Monday was Day 8 of Insanity the Asylum – Back to Core workout. This one gives a great back workout. I love it when my four year old jumps in at times and works out with me! He does pretty good too!

IMG_0016.JPG

Tuesday was Game Day. We swapped this one instead of Vertical Plyo since it fit our schedule better since it’s so long. This one’s a great workout. It focuses on different sports and you’ll definitely get your sweat on!

IMG_0045.JPG

Here’s a video preview of Game Day:

Wednesday was Relief – a great stretch routine.

IMG_0085.JPG

Thursday was Vertical Plyo. This one’s really tough! I managed to do a few plyo pushups this time. 😛IMG_0109.JPG

Friday was the Back to Core workout again.
IMG_0122.JPG

Saturday was the Strength workout. I was courageous to up my weight usage and used 10 lbs instead of 8 lbs and I did pretty well. I also felt motivated to run a mile for my IRUN4 buddy, Caysen. It was my first run for him. 🙂

IMG_0191.JPG

Sunday – I decided to run 5 miles and then did Day 15 of Insanity the Asylum – Relief. Felt good to do a stretch routine!IMG_0226.JPGHow’d your week go? Hope you have a good one!!

Last Week’s Workouts Recap – Started Insanity the Asylum (11/10-11/16)

I’ve started Shaun T’s Insanity the Asylum Workout Program and OMG it’s tough! I’m happy it’s only 30 days haha. All the workouts so far are hard but a great challenge. If I keep it up, I should be in tip top shape. I still might go for a run here and there, especially since I will be getting my IRun4 buddy really soon. On Saturday’s official waiting list, I was number 57! So close!

On to the workouts…on Monday, Day 1 was Speed and Agility. This was the first time using an agility ladder and I thought it was fun.

Here’s a video preview of Speed & Agility:

I also refreshed with resource Natural Spring Water. It’s very refreshing water during and after the workout. Thanks Influenster for letting me test the product! It tasted great.

Wednesday, day 3 was Back to Core. This one really works your back. I was really sore from the previous workouts.

IMG_9920.JPG

Here’s a video preview of Back to Core:

Thursday, day 4 was Vertical Plyo. OMG this is the hardest one so far! I was still sore so I didn’t even attempt the Plyo push-ups lol. I did what I could.

Here’s a video preview of Vertical Plyo:

Friday, day 5 was a much needed Rest Day!
IMG_9962.JPG

Saturday, day 6 was Speed & Agility again. Here I’m doing a much needed stretch during cool down.IMG_9980.JPG

Sunday, day 7 was Strength. I’m happy to say I’m no longer sore, but I might be tomorrow lol.IMG_0003.JPG

Last Week’s Workouts Recap (11/3-11/9)

I had a decent week of workouts. I somewhat followed Hal Higdon’s Novice 2 Marathon Training Plan.

Monday was a scheduled rest day but I decided to do P90X3’s Dynamix which is a great dynamic stretching workout.

IMG_9690.JPG

Tuesday was a three mile run.

IMG_9715.JPG

Wednesday was a scheduled five mile run which I pushed until Thursday since that’s when my little guy has preschool. I decided to do Focus T25’s Speed 2.0 workout instead of the three mile run. My little guy joined me. 🙂IMG_9745.JPG

Thursday was the 5 mile run.IMG_9772.JPG

Friday was rest day.

Saturday was another rest day since my Parent’s were in town, so I wasn’t able to get any cross training in.

Sunday was long run day, nine miles.IMG_9859.JPG

I’ve decided to switch things up a bit. Earlier I was thinking I could follow Hal Higdon’s Marathon training plan just for fun to see if I could really run further since the longest distance I’ve ran is a half marathon. But now I’m thinking I should take a little break from running. I think I’m going to attempt Insanity – the Asylum workouts and maybe incorporate a run here and there. I want to increase my fitness level. This 30-day program includes drills to maximize speed, coordination, agility, and power. I’ve done the regular Insanity program, a while back and liked it! Asylum is supposed to be much harder, so wish me luck. If it’s too much, my backup will be to do Insanity again or some sort of hybrid until Shaun T’s newest program Insanity: Max 30 comes out in December.

How’d your week go? Do you like to incorporate other workout progams while running?

Last Week’s Workout Recap (9/29-10/5)

Another week of workouts done! It was a decent week. I’m still following Hal Higdon’s 10K intermediate training plan with some tweaks here and there. My race is in 3 weeks.

On Monday, I ran three miles. It was a nice, cool day and enjoyed it! I did not do much strength training like the plan says, but did a few pull-ups and push-ups.
IMG_8641.JPG

On Tuesday, I ran five miles.IMG_8701.JPG

On Wednesday, I had a great 45 minute tempo run.

IMG_8732.JPG

On Thurday, I did not get a run in but did PiYo Sculpt. It’s a great total body workout.

Friday was Rest Day! Here’s 5 tips for your perfect rest day:

5TipsRestDay

Saturday was another PiYo day. I did PiYo Drench. I got a great sweat on! This is still my least favorite PiYo Workout. It’s a tough but good workout. But I don’t like how it’s longer than all the other workouts.IMG_8771.JPG

Then Sunday was a beautiful day for a run. Got my six miles done!IMG_8820.JPGHow did your week go?

Shaun T’s INSANITY MAX:30 coming in December

I’m excited for Shaun T’s next program coming out in December called INSANITY MAX:30. This one looks intense! I did Insanity a while ago and loved it! It was a great way to get back in shape after my first kiddo. One of the reason’s I haven’t got back to Insanity was because of how much longer the workouts are compared to like Focus T25 or P90X3. Many of the workouts were close to an hour long. Now Insanity is back and workouts in Max:30 are only 30 mins. I love that!

Shaun T has developed 150 new cardio and strength moves that will make you push harder and dig deeper than ever before to get the best body of your life in just 60 days. You’ll get killer cardio and tabata strength workouts. There’s no equipment needed and a modifier in every workout so anyone can push to their MAX. It’s not about “getting through” all 30 minutes, it’s about going as hard as possible, for as long as possible, until becoming “MAXED OUT” (i.e. until taking the first rest and/or breaking proper form).

I can’t wait to try this program. It will be coming out in the middle of December.

My Workouts Recap (8/11-8/17) with PiYo Workout Preview Videos

Another week of half marathon training is done! I modified my schedule a bit to so I could get in the long run easier in the middle of the week. That way I didn’t have to wake up early on Thursday to run 7.5 miles. It worked out since I did not really get a long run in last Sunday due to the 5k trail race I ran.

So instead of resting on Monday and Tuesday, I moved the runs in on the schedule which I was supposed to do on Wednesday and Thursday. I jogged 3 miles on Monday and also did PiYo Sweat. I was truly sweaty afterwards.IMG_7370.JPGThen on Tuesday I ran 7.5 miles and then tried PiYo Hardcore on the floor for the first time. Oh boy! Hardcore on the floor is a toughie! The description on the DVD sleeve says, “This unique workout uses your own body weight to scorch fat and develop long, lean muscles while you sculpt abs, glutes, legs, and arms without ever having to leave the floor.” I gotta admit I was just watching some of it :P. It didn’t help that I had just run 7.5 miles.

IMG_7391.JPG

On Wednesday, I did PiYo Buns. This one really works your lower body especially glutes and hamstrings. Who loves squats?

IMG_7416.JPG

I also made a video of it to show you some of the moves:

Then on Thursday I did PiYo Drench for the first time. OMG this one’s no joke! I thought this one was hard. It’s about fifty minutes long, a lot longer than the other workouts and Chalene Johnson keeps you moving. The name does not disappoint…I was drenched and dripping sweat! I need to work on this one. Here’s a video with a few of the moves:

Friday was a rest day.

Then on Saturday, I jogged three miles on the treadmill and did PiYo Strength Intervals. This one’s a cardio strength workout and is about 22 minutes long.
IMG_7518.JPG

Here’s a video preview of PiYo Strength Intervals:

Then Sunday’s workout was running 7.5 miles fast. I was in the guideline pace of 8:29-8:37, according to the Asics app, so I’m happy! My next half marathon is twenty-six days away. It’s getting closer.

How’d last week go for you?

Recap of Last Week’s Workouts 6/30-7/7 and Disneyland/Disney California Adventure.

I only got two runs in this week and did a couple of PiYo workouts. On Monday, my husband and I tried Chalene Johnson’s PiYo Define Lower and Upper Body workouts. They were about twenty minutes each. We started with the Upper Body one and then the Lower Body workout. The end of the Lower Body one was tough! There was a lot of plank work.

Here’s a pic of the fam at the end of the workout:20140709-220149-79309177.jpg

On Tuesday, I ran four miles. It was already warm out when I ran that morning. It reached the upper nineties that day….so hot!20140709-220149-79309625.jpg

On Wednesday, I ran six miles. I decided to run a little long because I knew I wouldn’t be able to run the rest of the week since we were going out of town.20140709-220150-79310056.jpg

Thursday was a rest day and Friday we spent most of the day driving to California. The picture below is of Mt. Shasta.

20140709-220150-79310600.jpgI wasn’t able to get any more runs or Beachbody workouts in but I got a great workout walking on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday while we were at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure :). We stayed at a hotel so close to Disneyland that we were able to just walk to the parks each day. We did a lot of walking!

Here are a few pics from our trip:20140709-225629-82589626.jpg20140709-225630-82590586.jpg20140709-225631-82591469.jpg
