Today’s workout – Focus T25 Speed 3.0

I decided to do Focus T25’s Gamma Speed 3.0 workout. I felt like getting a major sweat on and this workout never disappoints! After this workout, I was dripping sweat on the floor lol. It’s a fast paced workout with lots of burpee moves.

If you like burpees, this is a good one for you! This workout has burpee + plank walks, burpee + spider lunges, burpee + push-up jacks, burpee + ski abs, burpee + pike-ups, and burpee + front kicks. Those are just the burpee moves. This is an awesome cardio workout! Just like all the T25 workouts, it’s only 25 minutes!

Friday Evening Run

I got in an evening run today. I decided to do a 5k today to see what my 5k time was like and I sure went fast! My hard work has payed off. This is my fastest run ever! 🙂

My half marathon is approaching fast. I’ll probably cross train tomorrow and do a workout DVD. Then I have my long run on Sunday. After that it’s one more week and Sunday is the big day!! Getting excited!

OMG, these are good! barkTHINS snacking chocolate

Have you tried these? I got this bag of barkTHINS snacking chocolate with fruit from Costco. It’s the Blueberry Quinoa flavor with agave. These are so good! I had a couple of pieces after my dinner and it makes for a great dessert. The quinoa makes it crispy and sort of reminds me of a Crunch bar, and the blueberries add to the flavor of the dark chocolate. It’s so yummy!

I like how it’s made with natural ingredients. I didn’t know what Fair Trade Certified means, but the dark chocolate is Fair Trade.  I decided to look up what the Fair Trade dark chocolate meant on their website and found this:

A Fair trade chocolate label guarantees consumers that the farmers who grow the cocoa beans we use in our chocolate are getting paid a fair price. It also means that they are following good agricultural practices and are investing in their farms and communities. Under Fair trade, farmers can increase their incomes and gain access to better education and healthcare for their families. All of our Dark Chocolate flavors are certified by the Fair Trade USA organization. To learn more, please visit their website.www.fairtradeusa.org

It’s nice to know that the farmers are getting paid at a fair price and are following good agricultural practices. It seems it benefits both farmers and consumers.

But with all sweets, these aren’t that healthy. There’s a lot of saturated fat – 5g which is 26% of daily value and lots of sugar -20g. I think everything is fine in moderation though :).20140509-172710.jpg

Raining outside….Check out a cool running website – SmashRun.

20140508-192832.jpgI was thinking about running today, once my husband got home from work, but it’s raining pretty hard right now. Oh, wells. I don’t think I’ll be running today. I did a workout earlier today, so I think that counts for something! I’ll probably run the three miles tomorrow. But I was looking at my running stats from SmashRun, and I’ve ran 142 miles so far this year. I guess that’s not bad considering I haven’t been running very consistently until I started training for the Portland Rock’n’Roll Half Marathon. Also, my average running pace this year is 8:44/mile. I’m pretty happy with that! Last year, I rarely got under 9 min miles.

21 Day Fix Dirty 30 Workout

I decided to try a new workout today. I’m not doing any particular workout program right now since I’m training for the Portland Rock’n’Roll Half Marathon that’s coming up soon, and then the Seattle Rock’n’Roll Half marathon in June. I’ve been following a modified version of Hal Higdon’s Intermediate Half marathon training schedule for running but I’ve also been incorporating Beachbody workouts for cross training. My husband did the 21 Day Fix and he liked the program. It got him started on his fitness journey and now he’s tackling P90X3. He recommended I try  the Dirty 30 workout, so I did.

Dirty 30’s description is “4 rounds, 8 exercises, and 30 minutes to get in, get out, and get on with your day.” I thought the exercises were great and gave my whole body a workout! I like using weights now and this one delivers in using weights.

Today’s workout – P90X3 Triometrics

I decided to do P90X3’s Triometrics today. My legs got a killer workout! I’m hoping this will help my legs for the half marathon I’m running soon. There were a lot of squats in this one!

Each move is done for about a minute and is split into different intensities. It gets harder each time so you can stay with the first or second move as the intensity increases if it gets too hard.

Here’s the list of moves:

  1. Calf raise Squats
  2. Duper Skater
  3. Frog Jumps
  4. Warrior 3 Squats
  5. Speed Skater
  6. Superman Lunge
  7. Sumo Kick
  8. Run Stance squats
  9. Iso Squat
  10. Slater Squat

  13. Hell’s Chair
  14. Kablam
  15. Burnout
