Last Week’s Workouts and Weekly Wrap (7/10-7/16)

I took last week off of work to spend time with family in the Seattle area. It’s always nice to be on vacation. We took our relatives from CA that came for my dad’s 70th birthday party to more places around Seattle. I got in some running in too. Here’s what last week’s workouts looked like:

Monday – Rest day after running 1.5 hrs last Sunday.

Tuesday – Ran 4 miles, avg. pace 9:09. It was the first time I ran from my brother’s house to a local trail, the Burke Gilman trail. It’s always great to run on this trail since it goes a long ways in both directions from where I start in Kenmore. tuesdayrunWednesday – Rest day.

Thursday – Ran a good 6 miles with some strides, avg. pace 9:10.001Friday – Ran 3.04 miles. It was the last day at my brother’s house. I had to stop and take a pic on the bridge I ran on.001 (1)Saturday – Back home and I ran for about an hour, 6.7 miles avg. pace 9:00. IMG_7075Sunday – Rest day.

Total Miles = 19.74 miles. It was a good cut back week since marathon training starts this week. It’s a 20 week schedule and I’m thankful to have Coach Dawn to train me again for my next marathon, CIM. Should be fun. 🙂

As for the rest of the week, it was great seeing the sights with my relatives. On Monday we went to the MOHAI (Museum of History and Industry). It’s a pretty cool museum about Seattle’s history and the companies that started in Seattle.

We also went down to the waterfront and then took the water taxi from Pier 50 to Alki where we got a great view of Seattle. It was my first time taking the water taxi so it was exciting. It’s a nice way to take a quick trip to West Seattle.IMG_6780On Tuesday we went to Snoqualmie Falls, such a beautiful place. Here’s the upper viewpoint.IMG_6911There’s a nice short hike down to the lower viewpoint of the falls. IMG_6915Group pic:IMG_6909The kiddos and I:FullSizeRender (1)On Wednesday and Thursday, it was great to meet up with a good friend from high school and the kiddos had fun playing at a local park.IMG_6925IMG_7043

It was a terrific week. Love being on vacation and I actually got to sleep in. 🙂 This Saturday I’m looking forward to pacing the 2:15 group at the Oregon Summer Half Marathon.

How’d your week go? Any races coming up?

I’m linking up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for the Weekly Wrap.

There’s a new Guest Host Series for the Weekly Wrap to give Holly and Tricia a break and this week’s host is Janelle @ Run With No Regrets.

I’m also linking up with Courtney, Eat Pray Run DC‘s training recap linkup.

  1. What a fun week in Seattle! I went there for the first time for RNR Seattle last month and loved my weekend visit – I would have loved to hit those trails and see the waterfalls, I’ll have to get back at some point!

  3. I am excited to read about your training for CIM. Good luck! I don’t know if I mentioned it but I will be in Seattle for one day only on Wednesday. My nephew is studying at the University of Washington and is also working at Google or Microsoft (??) so I am hoping to see him.

  5. My big regret after visiting Seattle is that we didn’t leave the city to see any of the sights–we only had a weekend, so I guess I’ll have to go back!
