Last Week’s Workout Recap (11/23-11/29)

It’s the end of November. Time is flying. I’m still getting over the cold I had. I just have a little cough left. Thanksgiving marked the beginning of the Runner’s World Run Streak. I’m doing it again this year and am on day 4 so far. Here’s what I did last week:

Monday – 2 morning treadmill miles.Tuesday – I overslept and didn’t have time to run before work. I got first break for work and ran 3 miles on the treadmill.Wednesday – 3 morning treadmill miles.Thursday – 4 Thanksgiving miles to start the #RWRunStreak.  Friday – 5 miles on the Burke Gilman Trail.
Saturday – Ran 3.7 miles in Kirkland.  Sunday – Nice 6 miles on the Burke Gilman Trail.
I ended up with 26.76 miles for the week. I wasn’t able to get any cross training in though. I’m planning on changing that this week. It was nice to be able to run outside four days in a row. Also, I loved running on the Burke Gilman Trail and in Kirkland.

It was nice to go up to my brother’s house for Thanksgiving! Always great to spend time with family and enjoy yummy food!
On Friday, we tried a new place for me, Boiling Point. If you like hot pot, this is great! I thought it was good and I like the idea of being able to choose your own hot pot ingredients. There’s a good variety of soups you can get with different ingredients like a Korean one, seafood one, and Angus beef one. I chose the beef and it was delicious.

On Saturday, we went to downtown Kirkland and walked around. I ran along the waterfront while they walked around further. We also went to the Google Campus. It’s cool they have a walking/running trail, the Kirkland Corridor that goes through it. I ran a little on the trail. There was also a fun zipline the kiddos enjoyed.

We had a nice lunch at Homegrown, a sustainable sandwich shop that features organic ingredients. The chicken pesto sandwich was really good!!

That was just some of the fun weekend. I watched my 7 yr old nephew play in his first tennis tournament. He did awesome and took 2nd place! We also had a great dinner at the Facing East restaurant. It was my first time there and was pretty good. I don’t have Taiwanese food very often and it was good. I liked the pork burger they had as well as the chow mein. I forgot to take pics. Today, was mostly spent driving home and listening to the Seahawks game on the radio. Go Hawks!

How’d your week go? Any races coming up?

  1. Great week! I didn’t run Friday or today but plan on picking up the run streak for the rest of December. I had a great race on Thanksgiving so I’m going to find a 5k over the next couple of weeks. Have a great week!

  2. Looks like you got to run on some cool trails over the holiday. I love running in new areas. Great pics. The Burke Gilman trail looks nice. It’s so nice to run on dirt whenever possible. My trail has been a bit muddy (we had 1 day of rain) but it should be OK this week. Enjoy doing your RW streak Sherry and have a great week!

  3. Your Thanksgiving run looks very frosty! It is wonderful you were able to spend time with your brother and his family. The Google campus looks pretty neat! I’m glad to hear you were feeling better this week. Good luck with the RW streak. I appreciate you linking up with us, Sherry!

    1. Always great to spend time with family! The Google campus was really nice! I liked how it was close to the public trail with so much to do. There was a beach volleyball court as well as a basketball court nearby. Thanks Holly!

  4. Looks like a great week of running! I love all your pictures! Good luck with your RW Holiday Streak! I would love to try it if it weren’t for my marathon this Saturday. I may try to do the summer one again. I only made it 17 days this summer before getting the stomach virus. Congrats to your nephew placing 2nd in his first tennis tournament!

    1. Thanks! It was cool to see the Google campus! Hot pot is when there’s usually a pot of soup and ingredients are added and cooked at the table. It’s different but good if you like soup. 🙂 Have a great week too!

  5. You did have a great week of running. I too didn’t get in my strength training since we were out of town. Boy I love the views you had during your run, those are amazing. I have never heard of hot pot though, is it like a big bowl of soup you share? Thanks so much for linking up with us. I’m trying to catch up from being gone! Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks Tricia! Hot pot is usually a big bowl of soup that cooks at your table. You pick the ingredients you add. The different thing about the place I went to was that we each had individual smaller bowls that had burners. Hope you’re having a good weekend!
