Recovery Week 2 after the Vernonia Marathon and Weekly Wrap (4/23-4/29)

Last week was the second week after the Vernonia Marathon. I took it easy and got in a few runs. Here’s what last week looked like:IMG_3564Monday – First run post marathon, 3 miles, and felt fine. Legs felt pretty good.
Tuesday – Rest day.
Wednesday – Rest day. I was thinking about running here but decided to sleep in before work.photoThursday – Ran 3.7 miles in memory of Matt Campbell who collapsed at mile 22.5 during the London Marathon. So sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
Friday – Rest day.IMG_3656Saturday – Had a nice 45 min run and ended up with 4.82 miles.
Sunday – Rest day.

Total miles = 11.52 miles. It is pretty nice not having a set schedule but I feel like I need to keep moving more. I haven’t been eating the greatest but might as well now when I’m on a break, right? But I’m going to try to incorporate DVD workouts like I’ve done in the past with running until I start training for the Tunnel Marathon in June.

Highlights of the week:IMG_1538It was great to see my fourth grader give a speech for his Oregon Trail project.

It was also fun to go to the the kiddo’s STEAM fair. STEAM stands Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics. Great seeing them enjoying the projects that were there.

That pretty much wraps up my week. How’d your week go? Any races coming up?

I’m linking up with HoHo Runs and Wendy of Taking the Long Way Home  for the Weekly Wrap.

  1. I’m intrigued by the name of your next marathon. I hope you are actually running through tunnels because that just seems extra cool! Although it probably feels strange, you need some down time and lower mileage weeks. I hope you’ll continue to enjoy a few more of those. Thanks for linking with us!

  2. Oh, the Tunnel Marathon? that sounds interesting! When/where??

The 2nd week after a marathon is tough, you feel ready to go, but probably aren’t. I’ve read that almost all elites take two full weeks…I usually only take one, but maybe two is key!

Good luck with this next one!
