I didn’t get a chance to post the week of 12/18-12/24 so I decided to put it all in this week’s wrap up. I can’t believe 2017 is coming to an end. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and I wish everyone a Happy New Year!!
For the week of 12/18-12/24, I ran easy runs with two of them being in Georgia.Monday – Ran 4.08 early miles.
Tuesday – A nice 4.25 miles before work.
Wednesday – Rest day.Thursday – Cold and foggy run, being 27 degrees out but got in a good 6.6 miles.
Friday – Hilly 3.07 mile run in Georgia.
Saturday – 10.12 hilly miles, with 899 ft elevation gain according to Strava.
Sunday – Rest day.
Total miles = 28.11 miles. It was a good week and fun to run someplace new, in Georgia. I didn’t realize how hilly it was going to be so got in great workouts on Friday and Saturday.
As for the rest of the week of 12/18-12/24:
On Thursday night, we took the red eye flight to Atlanta, Georgia. We had a layover in Seattle and our flight was a little delayed to Georgia. But we ended up getting to Atlanta around 6 am Eastern time. It’s been a while since we’ve been to Georgia to visit hubby’s side of the family. So great to go out there and see them again. My mom-in-law just bred flat coat retrievers. The puppies were so cute.
Friday was a fun day that included laser tag. That was the first time I played laser tag and it was so much fun! There were also arcade games and air hockey at the place. The kiddos had a blast. We also watched Star Wars: The Last Jedi. I enjoyed it.
On Christmas Eve, we went to my In-law’s land. It was a fantastic day of fishing, canoeing, with lunch being hot dogs and making s’mores. It was a great way to end the week.
For the week of 12/25-12/31:
We had a nice Christmas in Georgia. Marathon training for the Vernonia Marathon has begun. I got in another hilly run before we left Georgia on Tuesday. Here’s what I did from Coach Dawn’s plan:
Monday – Plan: Rest day.
Actual: Christmas rest day. Tuesday- Plan: 30-40 min with a few strides.
Actual: Last run in Georgia. It was a nice day and had a 4 mile run with a few strides.Wednesday – Plan: 40 minutes easy.
Actual: Ran for 40 minutes and ended up with 4.3 miles.Thursday – Plan: 15 minutes easy
7 x 45 seconds fast/2:15 easy
15 minutes easy
(200’s if you are on a track)
Actual: I messed up on setting up the workout on my watch. For the first time, I tried setting it up on my phone in the connect app instead of on my laptop and it added the 15 min easy each repeat haha. So I messed up on the second interval since I was waiting for the beeps to stop and then had to keep track manually. Oh wells. I got the workout done and felt fine overall.Friday – Plan: Easy 40-45 minutes
+ Drills-
4 different drills- include 2 lateral.
2 sets each.
Actual: I met up with a friend and it was nice to run with someone else. Thanks for the company Summer! Time seemed to go by faster. I ended up with 4.7 miles and did the drills afterwards.Saturday – Plan: 2 miles easy
then do 4 miles with 2 minutes moderate every 5 minutes
2 miles easy
Actual: Ran it as planned. It was nice to see the sun out and felt pretty good.
Sunday – Plan: Rest day.
Actual: Rest day.
Total miles = 26.76 miles. I got all my workouts in so I’d say it was a good week. It’s the beginning of marathon training again. Hoping all goes well and I get that BQ/PR at the Vernonia Marathon. Here’s to happy running in 2018!
As for the highlights of the week:Christmas was a fun day.
Always great to spend time with family.
Wishing everyone a Happy 2018!

Oh my gosh, those puppies!!! So adorable. What does flat-coat mean? I never realized there were so many variations of retrievers!
Great pictures of what looks like a beautiful trip to Georgia!

Aww those puppies are so cute! Does it make you want to get one? My parents keep saying they are going to get a puppy soon. I think they will at least wait until Spring when it get a big warmer out. No on once to house break a dog in these frigid temps.

Did you run inside Callaway Gardens? Your 10 mile picture looks just like it. And if you were there, I was just a few miles away at my in-laws. And yes, it’s incredibly hilly but beautiful. They have a great half and full there this month actually. Happy New Year and thanks for linking!
