CIM Training Week 11 and Weekly Wrap (9/25-10/1)

Week 11 of CIM training is in the books. 9 weeks to go until I tackle my fourth marathon. September ended with an 18 miler and 185 miles for the month. That’s the most miles I’ve ever ran in a month!IMG_0224 I’m so grateful things are still going well and that I’m able to run and enjoy it. Here’s what last week’s workouts looked like from Coach Dawn‘s plan:

Monday – Plan had an easy 4-6 miles. I ran 5.25 early miles before work, avg. pace 9:19.001Tuesday – Plan was a Fartlek:
15 minutes easy
10 x 30 seconds fast/2:30 easy
10-15 minutes easy.

I wasn’t looking forward to this one because of the 10x30s, which seemed like a lot of reps but it wasn’t as bad as I thought, thank goodness. Ended up with 6.63 miles, avg. pace 9:03.001 (1)Wednesday – Plan had 4-6 miles at 8:35-8:50. Had a good run and ran 5.16 miles, avg. pace 8:33. 001 (2)Thursday – Plan had:
2 miles easy
2 x 2 miles- 7:55-8:05 w/ 3 minutes recovery
3 miles easy

It went well. Fast miles were 7:58, 7:55, 7:54, 7:52. Happy to hit those paces and ended up with 9.65 miles, avg. pace 8:45.001 (3)Friday – Plan had 4-5 miles at recovery pace. I ran 4.5 miles, avg. pace 9:41.001 (4)Saturday – Plan had 17-18 miles easy, last mile harder if I was feeling good. I was feeling pretty darn good and ran 18 miles, with the last mile being 8:20. 001Sunday – Rest day.

Total miles = 49.19 miles. I ran a good amount of miles this week. Things are going well so far and I hope it continues. On Wednesday, I found out that I didn’t make the cut off for Boston. I knew my time was iffy so I wasn’t too disappointed. This year the cutoff time was big and you had to run 3 min 23 sec better than your BQ time. I was only 2:21 better. I just hope to make it in 2019. I know I gotta aim for 5 min or better at CIM.

As for the other highlights of the week:

My little guy turned 7 on Friday. He’s growing big fast.IMG_0131.HEICIMG_0151.HEICWe went to John’s Incredible Pizza where they have games and stuff where you can earn tickets to redeem for prizes.IMG_0121.HEICThe machine below gave a lot of tickets. Look at my kiddos face lol.IMG_0113.HEICMy 9 year old found out about another scavenger hunt app called Munzee. We downloaded it and found our first one. It’s like geocaching but much easier since you look for QR codes and just scan them using your phone.IMG_0210The kiddos had fun finding them. There were a bunch in the parking lot we were in so we got a some exercise walking to each lamp post lol. IMG_0213How’d your week go? Have you heard of Munzee? Any races coming up?

I’m linking up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for the Weekly Wrap.

  1. Great week of training, with some really strong runs! It looks like you have some very beautiful paths to run on…Do you always run with your phone? I need to find a better way to carry mine, the iphones are so big now and don’t fit in my shorts pocket any more 😦 and I don’t love the arm bands or the bouncy SPI belts. I’ll keep searching!

  2. I think you are doing more than enjoying your runs your killing them! Coach Dawn and you just jive! Seeing your glowing vest reminds me I hate from now until the time changes. I run in the mornings and I do not like getting out when it’s pitch black. I have about 5-10 more minutes to play with before I won’t have time to get my run in and make it to work on time!
I am going to have to look up Munzee it sounds fun!

  3. Congrats on 185 miles for September! Training has been going so well for you! The trees are so pretty in your pics this week. I have never heard of Munzee but I like the fact you get to scan the code in as proof. My kids used to love collecting the tickets and redeeming them for those “cheap” prizes! Thanks for linking!

  4. Wow, great week of training! I’m glad you weren’t too disappointed about not making the cut for Boston. I cried for at least a week when it happened to me! 🙂 Your training is looking very solid, and that’s so exciting to be hitting all of your paces!
Your son’s birthday cake looks delicious. Happy birthday to him!
