It was a good cut back week for week 5 of CIM training. It’s still a ways away but 15 weeks to go until I run my fourth marathon in December. Here’s what I did from Coach Dawn‘s plan:
Monday – Ran the scheduled easy 30-35 minutes and ended up with 3.36 miles, avg. pace 9:18. I also did some core work afterwards.Tuesday – Ran 4.55 early miles with 5x strides. Target pace was 8:50-9. Felt good and avg. pace ended up being 8:45.
Wednesday – Rest day.
Thursday –Ā Tough ladder intervals workout. The last intervals were hard but I felt good once I was done. Workout was:
1-2-3-2-1-2 fast/hard effort.
Equal recovery in minutes in between. Recovery at moderate to easy pace.
Easy 1.5-2 miles.
Ended up with 5.8 miles. I did drills and core work afterwards.Friday – Had a nice 4.3 mile recovery run.
Saturday – Easy 7 mile long run, avg. pace 9:10.
Sunday – Rest day.
Total miles = 25.02 miles. I like cut back weeks especially when there are two rest days :). Waking up early to run is getting to be a habit but I do like sleeping in when I can even if it’s just for a little bit.
As for the other highlights of the week:
On Saturday, the kiddos wanted to go to another museum after last week’s rocks and minerals museum, so we went to the Washington County Museum in downtown Hillsboro. It’s cool we can get free passes through our local library. They enjoyed learning about the history of Washington County. Can you tell that’s a forest backdrop?
Do you remember View Masters? The idea was created in Portland by Edwin Mayer and there was a plant in Beaverton in Washington County where they manufactured them.
Afterwards we walked around the Hillsboro Farmers’ Market.
Later we got some fresh fruit drinks at Zero Degrees. No line this time. š
Who’s excited about the solar eclipse? The sun will be 99% covered by the moon where I’m at.
How’d your week go? Any races coming up?
Iām linking up withĀ HoHo RunsĀ and MissSippiPiddlinĀ for the Weekly Wrap.
There’s a new Guest Host Series for the Weekly Wrap to give Holly and Tricia a break. This week’s host is Madhuri @Ā Ponder ‘N’ Wonder. Be sure to check her out.
Awesome training week!

I remember having a View Master. My how times have changed. It’s nice you were able to enjoy a cut-back week and sleeping in. That’s the one thing I’ve been doing while not training over the summer. I’ve probably gotten too accustomed to it. LOL. It’s great your kids are enjoying the museums.

I do remember the view master and I think I had one too!
I love how you say average pace of 9.10 is an easy run for you. That’s my tempo pace! š

Your kids are adorable! I didn’t get a chance to see the eclipse because Florida never gets that kind of stuff…it was supposed to be 75% covered, but I didn’t have glasses and it was still bright outside. Some friends of mine got cool pictures though! I love cutback weeks too.

It was only about 70% here so not terribly exciting, really.
That’s wonderful that your kids want to go to museums!
It’s not a cutback week for me, but the pool is closed so I’ll actually get a bit more rest than normal. Except there’s a lot going on this week . . . at least it’s fun stuff!
