Shamrock Run Portland Half Marathon Training Workouts Recap and Weekly Wrap (2/15-2/21)

The Shamrock Run Portland Half Marathon is three weeks away, but my first race is next Saturday. I’ll be running the Mommathon 10k. Should be fun! I’m getting excited to run my first race! Last week I did two Hammer and Chisel Workouts and got 4 runs in. Here’s what I did:

  • Monday – Total Body Chisel
  • Tuesday – Ran 3 miles before work.
  • Wednesday – Ran 6.71 miles before work.
  • Thursday – Hammer Conditioning
  • Friday – Ran 4 miles after dropping my youngest off at preschool.
  • Saturday – Ran 11 early morning miles.
  • Sunday – Rest Day

I ended up with 24.77 miles for the week. I think the Hammer and Chisel workouts are helping. They have to be right? I feel somewhat stronger but I think my nutrition still needs work. The Saturday early long run was tough. I used BeetBoost as my pre workout and I think it helped some. I also used one Gu and hadΒ Nuun in my Simple Hydration bottle. It’s tough running at 5 am…but I am happy with my pace. If I keep that up I should get myΒ half marathon PR.

On to the weekend, Saturday was a busy day. The kiddos and I had lunch at MOD pizza. Love their pizza!

Then my youngest had his belt testing. He got his blue belt. Yay!

Then we celebrated and got some frozen yogurt. πŸ˜›

We did a little shopping and then it was back to the martial arts studio where my oldest did his belt test. Woohoo! He got his red belt.img_3267

Sunday is a work day for me but I was able to go out to lunch with the Fam and we tried a new place for lunch called Kukai RamenΒ & Izakaya. I guess this is the place to go if you like ramen. It was not bad. I don’t have ramen very often.

I would say it was a pretty good week. How’d your week go? Any races coming up?

I’m linking up withΒ HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlinΒ for the Weekly Wrap.

  1. I remember those days of belt testing! My boys trained in karate for three year. Those belt tests were always such a source of pride. I’ll say you’re killing it on the workouts. I have been a slacker in the strength department – need to get back on that this week. You’re right, it helps a ton. Have a great week!

  2. I remember the belt testing! And the different stripes. My middle child was really good at board breaking. But, I guess that is after they get a little older. That is an awesome pace for a long run. I think you’ll get your PR without any problem at all! Good luck at the Mommathon 10k this weekend. Thanks for linking with us Sherry.

    1. Thanks Holly! They’ve done a little board breaking too. It’s one of the studio’s fundraisers where you have to buy the boards. My oldest is getting pretty good at it too. πŸ™‚ Have a great week!
