I started tapering for week 13 of marathon training. I can’t believe there’s just two more weeks to go until I run the Tunnel Light Marathon. Here’s what my workouts looked like from Coach Dawn’s plan:Monday – Plan: Easy 4 w/ 4 x strides after 2 miles (75% effort)
4 x drills after
Actual: Started the week with an early 4 miles with strides and did the drills afterwards. Tuesday- Plan: 15 min easy
25 min tempo (7:30-45)
10 min easy
Actual: Had a tough but good tempo run. It was hard at the end and I set up my workout wrong on my watch which threw me off. Instead of putting 25 min for the tempo, I put 25 miles haha. Tempo splits were 7:37, 7:35, 7:45 and I’m not sure what the last few minutes were since my workout wasn’t set up correctly but I was happy with it.
Wednesday – Plan: Rest Day
Actual: Rest Day. Enjoyed not having to wake up early. Thursday – Plan: 1 mile easy
4 miles 8:10-15
Actual: Ran it as planned and felt fine. Splits were good (9:18, 8:10, 8:07, 8:14, 8:07).Friday – Plan: 30 min recovery run
Actual: Had a nice recovery run.Saturday – Plan: 2 options-
Get to Forest Park if you can, or the Vernonia course on the downhill section if possible.
If you go to either of those- Do around 2-2:15 total time
30 min easy
then 1 hour moderate pace
30-45 min easy
Other option
17 miles-
2 miles easy
15 miles- 8:35-45
Actual: Although it would have been nice to go to Forest Park or Vernonia, I didn’t want to drive and time is always a factor so I ran the 17 miles. Before the run I had two scoops of UCAN. Felt good and may have went a little fast on some of the splits. I hydrated with Nuun every couple of miles.
Sunday – Plan: Rest day.
Actual: Rest day.
Total miles = 35.11 miles. I’d say it was another good week of marathon training. My workouts have been going really well. I’m getting excited/nervous about the marathon….only two weeks left.
But August ended well. I ran a good amount of miles, 174 miles. Hope everyone has a super September! That pretty much wraps up my week. How’d your week go? Any races coming up?

Glad to hear you had such a great week/month. The time constraints can be a killer. It’s how I got a few more in Saturday though, I didn’t have time to walk home so made myself run.
