Tunnel Light Marathon Training – Week 11 (8/13-8/19)

Another training week is in the books. It was a great week that led up to my 26th half marathon, the Wings and Wheels Half Marathon. But four weeks to go until I run the Tunnel Light Marathon in North Bend, WA. Here’s what my workouts looked like from Coach Dawn’s plan:IMG_6108Monday – Plan: Easy 5.
Actual: Started the week with an easy 5 miles.IMG_6020Tuesday- Plan: Intervals
1.5 miles easy
1.5 miles 7:35
2 min easy
1 mile 7:15
2 min easy
1 mile 7:15
10-15 min easy

+ planks
Actual: Yikes that Intervals workout was hard and it didn’t help that I had to go to the bathroom in the middle. I just couldn’t hit those 7:15 paces. I know I can get there…but it just wasn’t that time. Also, the pic above was what I posted on instagram on Tuesday. It was Noxgear’s ambassador sale. It’s over now but you can still save 35% off with my code: HAPPYRUN1. IMG_9724Wednesday – Plan: 40 min Recovery Run
Actual: I ended up running this one on the treadmill due to the bad air quality. There are fires everywhere. 😦 IMG_6039 2Thursday – Plan: 4 miles with 3 x strides at 80% after 2 miles
+ 4 x drills after

Actual: The air quality was better so I ran outside. Ran it as planned.IMG_9180Friday – Plan: Rest day.
Actual: Rest day. Made sure I had my essentials ready for race day.IMG_6102Saturday – Plan: Race – Wings and Wheels Half Marathon
Actual: Had a fantastic race at the Wings and Wheels Half Marathon in Scappoose, OR. Got a PR! Woohoo! Recap coming soon.IMG_6111Sunday – Plan: 30-35 min Recovery Run.
Actual: Ran for 35 minutes. Felt ok and not really sore, just sluggish maybe since I didn’t feel like running early before work.

Total miles = 35.24 miles. Despite not hitting my paces on Tuesday’s intervals run, it was a good week since it ended awesomely with Saturday’s half marathon PR! I’m pretty happy with where I’m at. I have to thank Coach Dawn for helping me get stronger and faster!

That pretty much wraps up my week of workouts. How’d your week go? Any races coming up?

I’m linking up with HoHo Runs and Wendy of Taking the Long Way Home  for the Weekly Wrap.

  1. Well done on your PB – nice going. I got my half PB in the middle of training for my first marathon – I think I just treated it like a training run and had already run further, so I relaxed. Good luck for the last few weeks before the big day and hope the air quality settles down.

  2. Congrats on that half marathon! Even though you didn’t hit your paces on your interval training, you killed that race! See, Coach Dawn knows exactly what she’s doing!

  3. Congratulations on a well deserved half marathon PR! You’ve been working very hard and I know you’ll have great results at your marathon too. I’m sorry to hear you’ve been affected by the fires. I hope you’ve had better air quality this week. Thanks for linking!

  4. Your training is going so well. I can’t wait to hear what you think of the marathon course. I loved it, even though my marathon experience wasn’t the best. It was the easiest course I ever ran. I would love to go back sometime.
