Next Sunday’s the big day! 19 weeks of training have gone by and I can’t believe it’s just seven days until I run my fourth marathon, CIM (California International Marathon). Here’s what last week’s workouts looked like from Coach Dawn‘s plan:Monday – Plan: Easy 4-5.
Actual: Ran 4 early miles, avg. pace 9:24.Tuesday- Plan: 15 minutes easy
Ladder- rest ratio equal to interval
In minutes-
1-2-3-2-1-2-3
Paces- 7:15-45
10-15 minutes easy
Actual: Ran it as planned and felt fine. Ended up with 6.28 miles, avg. pace 8:44.Wednesday –ย Plan:ย 1.5 miles easy
2 x 3 miles at marathon pace with 5 minutes easy in between Pace-8:20-8:25
1.5 miles easy
Actual: It was great to run part of my workout with my sister, who came up for Thanksgiving. My 2 x 3 mile splits were pretty good (8:22, 8:24, 8:17 and 8:20, 8:20, 8:21). Ended up with 10.09 miles, avg. pace 8:46.Thursday –ย Plan: Rest day or optional 30-35 min easy.
Actual: Decided to run with my sis and ran 3.5 miles, avg. pace 9:51. Probably better since I ate a ton on Thanksgiving haha.Friday –ย Plan: Easy 4-5 w / 4 strides
+ drills/core
Actual: Ran 5 miles with 4 strides and did some drills and core work afterwards.Saturday –ย Plan: Easy 12-13.
Actual: I felt fine and ran 13.01 miles, avg. pace 9:06. Felt the need to get that extra mile in for all the eating during the week lol.
Sunday – ย Plan: Rest day.
Actual: Rest day.
Total miles = 41.88 miles. It was yet another good week of training. I feel pretty good about the upcoming race. A big thanks to Coach Dawn who’s helped me get to where I am! I’m still nervous but also excited. Training has gone so well but you never know what may happen on race day. I’m hoping to beat my PR of 3:42:39 and aiming for 3:40 or better. We’ll see how things unravel next week.
As for the highlights of the week:Thanksgiving was at our place. It was great that everyone came. It was a full house. ๐
We had plenty of yummy food.
It was great to go for a walk at Noble Woods Park afterwards to help walk off what we ate.ย
Pic of all the cousins together.
They also had fun at the park the next day.
It’s nice when the boys are all together. ๐
So thankful for a fantastic Thanksgiving.
How’d your week go? Any races coming up?
Iโm linking up withย HoHo Runsย and MissSippiPiddlinย for the Weekly Wrap.

You are so ready! I have to giggle at running 13 miles as an “easy” run the week before your marathon. Because, you know, that’s the furthest I’ve ever run (essentially).
But man! That’s a whole lot of family. So glad i only have 7 extra mouths to feed on Thanksgiving!
I think you’re going to have a great marathon. Good luck!

Thanks Judy! After building up the miles, 13 miles is a bit easier. ๐

Looks like a great holiday. What a fun family! Also super fun that you ran with your sister, and she has a blog AND she’s running CIM! I’m going to check out her blog too. Do you have similar race goals? Are you running together at CIM?

Haha, she is the one who actually got me into running and running CIM. We have different race goals so won’t be running this one together.
