Great Start to May – First Week of Workouts and Weekly Wrap (5/1-5/7)

The first week of May has started off nicely. It’s great not having a set schedule for a change but I do have a half marathon, the Hippie Chick Half Marathon next Saturday. It will be nice to run it for fun. But here’s what I did last week:

Monday – Worked out with hubby and did 21 Day Fix Extreme Plyo Fix. It wasn’t too bad and I liked using weights. Then I ran an easy 3.01 miles.IMG_4446001Tuesday – Did 21 Day Fix Extreme Upper Fix with hubby and then ran 3.07 miles with some strides.IMG_4447001 (1)Wednesday – Rest Day.

Thursday – Ran 6.0 miles. Ran a Fartlek for some of it, I did 6×30 sec fast with about 2 min recovery. It was warmer than usual out and I gave up on the Fartlek earlier than I had planned and did the rest easy. I just wasn’t feeling it.001 (3)Friday – Ran an easy 5k for Cinco de Mayo.001Saturday – Ran 10 early miles. It was a great start to the morning on a beautiful day.001 (2)Sunday – Rest day.

Total miles = 25.18 miles. I’d say it was a great first week of May. Got in some good workouts with hubby and good miles. I’m looking forward to the Hippie Chick Half Marathon on Saturday. I’ll try to run it easy and just enjoy the course. 🙂

As for the other highlights of the week:

On Wednesday, since my parents were in town, we went to downtown Portland for some shopping. It’s always great to spend time with them and I’m thankful when they help out especially with watching the kiddos.IMG_4223The weather has been off and on but the kiddos got in some biking.IMG_4235On Friday, the kiddos school had Muffins for Mom, an event to have muffins, fruit, juice and/or coffee with the kiddos.IMG_4295After my long run on Saturday we went to watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Gotta love getting free tickets from work. It was a funny movie.IMG_0119Afterwards we went to the new Orenco Woods Nature Park. I wanted to show the kiddos these cool sculptures that I’ve run by a couple of times.
IMG_4443IMG_4439The sculpture above is called Head over Heels by Patrick Dougherty and is made of local willow. Pretty cool, huh?

How’d your week go? See any good movies lately? Training for any races?

I’m linking up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for the Weekly Wrap.WeeklyWrap

  1. The Hippie Chick Half marathon? What does that medal look like? We went to see Guardians too, my son liked it… except for a scary part somewhere in the middle.

  2. Nice week! I’m sure those workouts with Nate are helping! I should start doing those videos again too! 🙂 Those sculptures at the park are neat!

  3. It sounds like you had a great first week of May. I’m sure you’ll do great at Hippie Chick. Those stress free fun runs are the best! I watched part of a movie on the flight to Wisconsin and planned to watch the rest on the way home. As luck would have it, the plane didn’t have the players. I was left hanging in suspense. I’m glad you were able to spend time with your parents this week. Thanks for linking, Sherry!
