Second Week Post Marathon and Weekly Wrap (10/17-10/23)

I’m still taking it easy after the marathon. The cough seems to be lingering but I think it’s finally going away. I found myself thinking about what’s next? I didn’t know what to do with myself after following a training plan for so long. But it’s good to have a break right? Coach Dawn sent me an article about recovery after the marathon and how it takes about two weeks for muscle damage to heal after a marathon. So yeah, taking it easy especially with having bronchitis. But with all the down time, I’ve already planned my next marathon. I’ve decided to run a local one, the Vernonia Marathon in April. I’ll be having four weeks of break time and then marathon training will commence. 🙂

Here’s what I did last week:

Monday – Ran 3 easy miles, average heart rate 137. img_0910Tuesday – Rest day.

Wednesday – Ran an easy 30 minutes and ended up with 3.13 miles, average heart rate 139.img_0933Thursday – Rest day.

Friday – Ran an easy 3 miles, average heart rate 134.img_0973Saturday -Another 3 miles, average heart rate 137.img_0998Sunday – Rest day.

Total  = 12 recovery miles. It was a nice recovery week. This coming week I plan to incorporate some DVD workouts with some running. I’ll have four weeks until I start marathon training again. April’s not too early to run another marathon, right? 🙂 I just feel the need to challenge myself. Running the Vernonia Marathon will be marathon #3. What’s next on your agenda? Any races coming up?

As for the rest of the week, we went to the park quite a bit. I’m still playing Pokemon Go and there’s a lot of stops there. 🙂My hubby took some nice pics with his phone at the park:

At home we played The Simpson’s Clue game. Clue is such a fun game.
It’s almost time for the Walking Dead. Anyone else watch that show? How’d your week go? I’m linking up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for the Weekly Wrap. Hope you have a great week!

  1. That’s awesome you track your runs heartrate and monitor it!
Oh I’m a huge Walking Dead fan, and loved the episode last night. I just hope the entire season is good this year and lots of action. I think it will be, I never like when they get stuck doing much of nothing for several episodes in a row, so yes high hopes this season for sure!!! Hope you enjoyed the episode too!!

  2. Wow, already signed up for the next one ? You rock ! While I loved the structure of a training plan, I was so ready for a big break after the marathon. I am looking forward to a break (and not getting up for cold zero dark thirty miles) through the winter. No spring races yet on my schedule and definitely NOT a marathon. Two in a year is enough !
    Enjoy your down time.

  3. You captured some lovely Fall colors this week! I hope that cough is gone now. I took 5 days off completely and tried my best to just run easy until the two weeks mark. But, it was hard because I feel great and I just want to run in these cooler temps (finally!). I think April is not too soon at all. I’m thinking January! Thanks for linking, Sherry!

  4. Another marathon? Awesome!!!

You always seem to take great photos! What do you use to add the text to them?

I’ve heard so many great benefits of tracking your heart rate. One of these days I will do that.
