Who wants to get up around 4:45 am in the morning to work out? It’s a struggle for me but I get it done most of the time.
Here are 5 reasons why I get up early to work out/run:
- Less likely to miss a workout. It’s the only time available for me most of the time. I work 12 hr days, three or four days a week. I get home around 8 pm. If I don’t get up early to workout, I know I won’t get my work out in at night.
- Feel energized. After an early morning run or workout, I feel great and more awake. It’s a great way to start the day.
- Sense of accomplishment. I feel great that I accomplished my workout. I know it’s a step closer to my goals.
- Leaves time for other things during the day. Even when I’m not working, it’s nice to get my workout done early so I have time to do fun things during the day. I don’t have to worry about having to get my workout in if I already did it in the morning.
- Great for your body. My body is getting conditioned, stronger and fitter when I workout. It gives my metabolism a boost since calories are burned even after my workout is done.
Those are my reasons why I get my workouts/runs done in the morning. When do you like to work out or run?

I’m right with you in the morning for all those reasons! If it doesn’t happen then, it’s really hard to make it happen, and it’s just a great way to start the day!

I always prefer a morning workout. I am much more energetic in the morning even it means getting out of bed earlier. Whenever I run in the afternoon it seems to be much more challenging.

Sometimes I run to work and/or back, but I also like to get workouts or runs during lunch time, so I can have a break from sitting down after a few hours of work.

I love getting my workouts done as early as possible. It is tough though because I get to work at 6 or 7 in the AM, so I have to really make sure my schedule is set by the time I get home.

I’m only a morning workout person in the summer. I don’t mind getting up at sunrise then cus I don’t have to be to work! Plus gotta get those runs in before it gets too hot!

Like you, I love getting it done in the morning. It makes me feel happy and ready to take on the day! Also, then I don’t have to worry about squeezing it in at some other time. If I do it first thing, there is always time to get it done. Sure, it may mean my alarm goes off really early, but at least I don’t miss it!

I want to be able to work out first thing, but I am simply not a morning person!! Now that I work from home I can get my workouts in around lunchtime which has worked out well for me.

Great list and I agree with your reasons. Right now I work from home, so I usually go out during lunch – it’s warmer! But in the summers, it’s morning workouts all the way!
