Last Week’s Workouts Recap and Weekly Wrap (1/4-1/10)

I decided to start a new program since cross training is always good, right? I began the Master’s Hammer and Chisel program. It’s nice because hubby is doing it too. This program is designed for those that want to get strong and sculpted. I’m not following the nutrition plan and just figure it’s a good way to get strength training. Here’s what I did last week:

Monday – Chisel Balance and ran 2 miles.Tuesday – I did Hammer Plyometrics. This one definitely got my heart rate up.Wednesday – I did Iso Strength Chisel. Oh my, this was hard. Each move has 30 reps, with a 10 sec iso hold after each 10 reps.Thursday – Ran 5 miles on the treadmill. Friday – Iso Speed Hammer and ran 5 miles.Saturday –  Chisel Endurance and ran 7 treadmill miles.Sunday – Total Body Hammer. This was a good total body strength workout.
So this is my first time doing a strength type program. I’m liking it so far since it’s different. We’ll see how it goes while I keep running. I finally have a tentative race schedule planned out and my next race will be the Mommathon 10k. For those in the PDX area, this is a fun one that has fitness challenges. Check out this promo video:

That was my week of workouts. I ran 19.27 miles and did 6 workouts from the Hammer and Chisel program.  Do you like lifting weights? How’d your week go?

I’m linking up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin for the Weekly Wrap.

  1. Way to go!!

You rocked your week of workouts!

I have a few friends doing the hammer and chisel program-heard great things!

I love lifting weights-i actually lifted weights exclusively before I fell back in love with running.

    Good luck with the program!

  2. Hammer and Chisel SOUNDS like an intense program! The pictures look like it too. It’s nice your husband is doing it with you. I do not lift weights or do any strength training. For a year, I suffered with elbow tendinitis but it is much better now — I have absolutely no excuses. My husband likes to go to the gym, so I should go with him! Thanks for linking Sherry!
