A Look Back At 2015

It’s been another awesome year of running! I thought last year was great, this year was even better! I’ve done so much running this year than ever before, which is pretty cool! I wasn’t sure how it would go after going back to work in April. My main goals for 2015 were to run a marathon and beat my mileage distance from last year. I not only ran my first marathon but I smashed my mileage from last year which was 712 miles. So far I’ve ran 1,305 miles(if you like looking at stats, check out Smashrun) and there’s still a few more days left of the year. Training for a marathon definitely brings in the miles.

I ran eight races this year which don’t include virtual races. I participated in two Runner’s World Run Streaks. I’m doing one now and I did the Summer one, which is currently my longest run streak at 41 days. I was also happy to be given the chance to pace half marathons through my local Moms Run This Town group for Uberthons races.

My first race of the year was in February, the Mommathon 5k 10k Fitness Festival. This was a fun one since not only did it have a race but it also had fitness challenges. It had been a while since I ran a 5k and I PR’d. I also placed 3rd in my age group.IMG_3122In March, I had my second race of the year in New York City, the NYC Half Marathon . I was lucky enough to get a spot through the lottery with my sister. I had so much fun running through Times Square and I got a PR to boot! I’d say this was my best race of 2015. It’s still my half marathon PR and to get it in such a big race was awesome! The energy running through Times Square was amazing!IMG_3601

In May, I got the opportunity to pace for the first time at the Oregon Spring Half Marathon It was for the 2:15 pace group and it was a great experience. I’m so thankful to get the opportunity to pace others.

Two weeks later, I ran the Rock’n’Roll Portland Half Marathon They made big changes in the course this year and seemed like there were more hills, but it was still a good race. It’s sad that there isn’t a Rock’n’Roll Portland race next year. I had been running that race since the inaugural one in 2012.   In June, I ran the Rock’n’Roll Seattle Half Marathon . This was another great Rock’n’Roll race. It was cool to meet up with other runners from social media. IMG_6138In July, I helped pace the Oregon Summer Half Marathon . I remember this being a tough one since it was so warm out. It was still a fun one.
In September, I helped pace the 2:10 group in the Oregon Fall Half Marathon. This was an awesome one since we knew we helped people get PR’s. I was training for my marathon so I ended up running 20 miles that day.My final race was my first marathon, the Portland Marathon. It didn’t go as I had hoped since I was sick the day before but I’m still very happy that I completed it.
I also did many virtual races this year. I’d say my highlight one would be my most recent virtual that I did this month, the The Miracle Is that I Started 5k. I ran my fastest 5k!img_1530Well, that’s my year in review. I’m so happy with what I’ve accomplished so far. I’m hoping to get faster next year, stay injury free, and run another marathon. What are your plans for next year? Have a Happy New Year!

  1. What a fantastic year! That is a lot of miles. That is so awesome you paced twice 🙂 I am impressed with how you stay speedy even in the heat. I hope to stay injury free in 2016 with you.

  2. Congrats on a great year! It’s great finding new running blogs as I’m still new to the blogging world, and always nice to read about done fellow PNW run bloggers! I didn’t realize there was no RnR Portland next year…we did it last year along with Seattle and Vancouver and had a great time. Happy New Year!
