Portland Marathon Training Week 12 – Workouts Recap (8/31-9/6)

Wowza, August ended with the most miles I have ever ran in a month! I ran 158 miles!! It is the sixth month in a row that I have ran 100 miles in a month. That is really good for me! Last year, I only ran 100 miles in a month just once. This past week was okay. It was like a recovery week after running my first 20 miler. Here’s what I did:

Monday – I decided to do PiYo Sweat. It’s been a long time since I’ve done this one. It’s still a good one. Tuesday- I ran 5 early morning miles.

Wednesday – Another early morning 5 mile run. Since it’s so dark out when I run, I decided to invest in a headlamp and got one from REI outlet for less than $14 with coupon code.

Thursday – I did Insanity Max:30’s recovery workout, Pulse. I like how it’s only 20 minutes.Friday – Ran 8 miles and it was surprisingly cold, 44F. Wednesday’s run was 57F. My hands were so cold and felt like I needed gloves and I was just wearing shorts and a short sleeved shirt. I warmed up after a while and then felt fine.

Saturday – 12 total miles. It was a little warmer than Friday’s run 48F. I ran 10 miles outside before hubby had to go to work and then hopped on the treadmill for the last two miles.

Sunday – Rest Day.

I’d say marathon training is still going well. I can’t believe the Portland Marathon is just four weeks away. I have a 20 miler scheduled for Saturday and I’m pacing a half marathon that day. I hope to get the rest of the miles afterwards. We’ll see how it goes.

How’d your week go? Any races coming up?

  1. Congrats on the mileage totals! I’m impressed! Glad you’re able to do it without injury – that cross training really helps. Have fun pacing the half marathon. I but that would be a fun thing to do. I’m going to be volunteering as cyclist course support for an upcoming half marathon – not exactly sure what my job will be.

  3. That is very impressive mileage! The mornings have gotten very dark, but I can’t even imagine 44 degrees. How wonderful! I think pacing a half marathon is an excellent idea. At least it will break up that 20 miler and make it more fun. You are getting really close to your marathon. I know you must be excited! Thanks for linking up with us today.
