Happy Friday!! I am linking up with Eat Pray Run DC, You Signed Up for What?! and Mar on the Run for the Friday Five Linkup. Every Friday they have a linkup for bloggers to link up a post about five things or write on their theme. This week’s theme is “What’s in my gym bag?”. I don’t currently go to the gym so there’s nothing haha. I like to work out in the comfort of my own home or go running outside. It’s easier for me since I have two kiddos and a bit easier on the budget. But I’ll do a post on what I bring in my bag or fitness bag when I’m traveling to get my running/workouts in. Here’s what I bring:
1. Garmin GPS Watch – I currently have the Garmin Forerunner 220 and love it! I love how it fits on my wrist. It’s pretty light and thinner than my previous GPS watch. It works great and I probably rely on it too much. I like knowing the distance I’ve gone and my pace to see if I’m running too fast or slow depending on the workout. This one’s cool because it has live tracking and my hubby can follow me at home. It also tells me when I run a personal record.
2. FlipBelt – I need to have my FlipBelt. I always bring my phone with me and this keeps it nice and snug on my waist. I can hardly tell it’s there sometimes. It also carries my fuel on long runs and works great with my Simple Hydration Bottle. Here’s my review of the FlipBelt I did a while back.
3. Running Shoes/Workout shoes – I need my running shoes or workout shoes. Right now I love my Brooks Pure Flows when I run. I also love my Vibram Fivefingers KMD Sport Shoes when I do the DVD workouts like Insanity Max:30. They’re comfortable and don’t hurt my feet when I’m jumping around or what not. They also prevent me from slipping on the carpet.
4. Workout DVDs – If I’m not running, I like to do work out with DVDs like Focus T25 and PiYo. I’m currently doing Insanity Max:30 and it’s a challenging but an awesome program!
5. Yurbuds – These are the only earbuds that have stayed in my ears while running so far. I like listening to music when I run. I’ve been using Yurbuds since 2009 when I saw them at the Seattle Half Marathon Expo. They don’t fall out and fit nicely in my ears.
Well, those are five things that I make to sure to bring when I run or workout away from home. What’s in your gym bag?
Be sure to check out the other great blogs!
That is super cool that your husband can track you while you run…he can make sure to have your recovery smoothie waiting for you when you get back! Oh, I really like my simple hydration bottle and how it fits with my flipbelt. Thanks for that discount code by the way(or was it Sharon? I am pretty sure it was you) Anyhow I like it. I also love my yurbuds and they are always in my gym bag! I also started carrying extra head bands, my gym gloves, and extra towels.

I’ve never used Yurbuds before. Have you used the same one since 2009 or have you had to replace them every few years? I end up buying the $10 from target or drugstore, and luckily they fit fine; however I find their uselife is not very long.

I’ve been using the same ones since 2009 :P, but I think they’re starting to show wear so I’m on the lookout for new ones. I’m thinking about trying bluetooth wireless headphones. I just ordered some so we’ll see how that goes.

I have just about everything on this list! The pure flows are my favorite shoes, and I also love my flip belt. I need to wear headphones that wrap around my ears so yurbuds don’t work for me (I got them for Christmas one year but they kept falling out of my ears when I tried to run with them).

Nice! Sorry to hear about the bad experience with Yurbuds. Everyone is different. Have a great weekend! 🙂

I’d like to try Yurbuds. I’ve always had a problem with buds staying in. I’ve been using Skull Candy and they work fairly well unless it is sweaty, stinking, hot. I like your Garmin 220. When my 110 dies, I think that will be my next one.

I haven’t tried Skull Candy yet. Yurbuds are great! You should try them.

Love the list. I need to invest in a new pair of headphones. The ones I have work, but they’re not entirely comfortable. Heard lots of good things about Yurbuds. Considering looking at something bluetooth based and finally going wireless for my workouts.

Yurbuds does have a wireless option but are a bit pricey. I’m looking to go wireless as well and actually ordered a different brand to try since they were on sale.

I also have Yurbuds and love them! I could never get other earbuds to stay in my ear and I always got so frustrated, I couldn’t enjoy my run.

All great things on your list! I think I have every one of those things except the Garmin 220. I’m still sporting my Garmin 405 but will probably update at some point! 🙂

LOVE my yurbuds, have for years. Just for a flip belt as a Christmas gift from my MIL, need to try it out and see if it will carry enough GU and gel flasks for a full marathon.

I really like the concept of the flipbelt. Plus it’s the only one that fits my large phone. However I think I got the wrong size bc it does tend to ride up a bit during my run.

It is an awesome concept! I would size down since it’s not supposed to ride up. They also have a great customer satisfaction guarantee.

You might like PortaPocket as sizing is never a problem…adjusts to fit everyBODY and you can wear it from the gym to a black tie event, too. It;s neoprene so it’s super comfy and you can wear it anywhere on your body, and either under or over your outfit. I won’t leave the house without ’em! :))
