Last Week’s Workouts Recap (10/27-11/2)

What to do? Currently, my next race that I’ve registered for is not until May 2015. I just don’t know what to do unless I follow a plan. I want to try and maintain my running so I’ve decided to follow another training plan just for fun. I want to slowly increase my distance just to see if I can run further so I’ve decided to follow Hal Higdon’s Novice 2 Marathon training guide. I’m not sure how long I’ll actually follow the guide since I’m thinking about getting Insanity Max:30 which comes out in December, but we’ll see. Also, I’m thinking about signing up for a marathon, but I’m still not sure which one yet.

I started Hal Higdon’s plan on Monday and ran 3 miles.

Wednesday was another three miles.IMG_9536.JPG

Thursday was Rest day.

Friday I decided to do Focus T25 Ab Intervals. My little guy joined me and we had a great workout. He doesn’t always join me so this was a nice surprise. 🙂 He did pretty good!

How’d your week go? What do you think? Do you think it’s a good idea to start a Marathon training plan? What’s your favorite training plan?

  1. I like to (loosely) follow a plan too, otherwise I get lazy and don’t have a good focus on workouts. Not sure I’d ever do a marathon, though–that’s a huge commitment!

  2. Wow, you go! I haven’t quite got the guts yet to do a full marathon, I think it’s awesome that you are thinking about following a marathon plan (at least somewhat). 🙂

  3. I like the idea of starting a plan, though I do like to have a race option at the end. It makes it more real. I do like to have some sort of structure to keep me going.

I started the Hansens’ plan a couple months ago with the same idea, just to have some structure. There was nothing wrong with the idea, but the plan is not suited for trying to fit in other activities, so I dropped it. I’ll be ramping up on the Higdon Intermediate 1 next week in preparation for LA in March. We’ll see how it goes. I’ve done the Novice 2 twice now, and I may drop back down to that if I have to.

    1. Yes, I know what you mean. I need a plan to keep me going, and to have a race to go with it is ideal. I’ve heard of the Hanson’s plan and seems interesting. Hope Hal’s Intermediate plan works well for you! Good luck with your training!! 🙂

  4. I think it’s great to have a plan to follow, forces you to get in those workouts! But at least you can be flexible and not beat yourself up for a missing a run or two. You’ll definitely maintain fitness by following the plan! I have to figure out what I’m going to train for in the spring! #wowlinkup

  5. OOOOH I am so jealous of the awesome fall colors, but glad you shared 🙂 Awesome that you have such a great lil workout buddy, too. I hope you get to do a marathon!!!! My advice is to not do a training run longer than 20 miles if you do (had to learn that from experience!!!). Keep up posted on your plans 🙂 #wowlinkup
